Quinn wedding reception tree

Unexpectedly I found myself painting this tree for a couple (Kevin and Renee Quinn) in the end of August 2012 who wanted this for their wedding reception. Instead of guests signing a book, they had them stamp and sign leaves on the tree. Very clever.

Rachel's "R"

For Christmas (2011), I created a gift for my niece. I wanted to make something she could sit on her desk or hang on the wall. Taking inspiration from Brittney Lee's shadowbox art, I knew I wanted to do something with depth and "painterly". Two things I wanted it to involve was, [1] something to represent her and [2] something with her cat. As I was walking around in the craft shop and saw the foam R, it came to me.

Archie McPhee package challenge!

Archie McPhee recently had a job posting which included designing a package for their Yodeling Pickle product.

Here's the package I illustrated and designed. Too much fun!

This is the image of their current product shot.

Labels for this year's Christmas gifts

Got a gift certificate from a friend to a "U-brew" place in downtown Edmonds called Gallaghers'. They provide the equipment and kits to brew your own beer, wine, hard ciders and root beer.

I decided to turn the brewing opportunity into Christmas gifts this year. In combination with an art challenge from one of my nieces, I designed the labels that went with the root beer I bottled and the two ciders I brewed.

This was brewed by Gallaghers'. I was hoping to brew it, but ended up just
bottling it. It's the best of the bunch!

As mentioned in the title, this cider tastes great.

Much to my disappointment this cider didn't taste
much like pear. It tastes more like champagne.
Its still a nice cider, but I was really looking forward
to it tasting like pear . . .

Mckenna likes sea turtles . . .

So a little girl in my Bible study declares I'm supposed to draw something for her. I ask her mother what she likes . . . she likes sea turtles . . .

There are a lot of things I like about it . . . I'd like to try and do
the head and right side of the shell again.

As a funny side note, she's been practicing how to snorkel in her bath tub . . . apparently the proper term is "gorkeling" . . . it's been a long time since I practiced snorkeling in the bath tub . . .
